Our trained technicians at Heritage Honda Bel Air are constantly addressing questions about caring for Honda vehicles and Honda tires. After all, with limited lifespans, tires aren’t meant to last forever, but proper care can help.

How Long Do Tires Last?

On average, tires last three to five years, although lots of factors can change that. Most experts will say your tires should be inspected after six years to see if they’re past their prime. They definitely need to be replaced if they are over 10 years old.

What Shortens a Tire's Lifespan?

These bad habits will likely put your vehicle on the short end of the lifespan range:

  • Driving with improper tire pressure
  • Driving at excessive speeds
  • Braking or cornering harshly
  • Skipping routine maintenance

What Type of Maintenance Do I Need?

During maintenance visits, our professionals will inspect your tires to look for any potential issues. Your tires should be regularly balanced, as well as your wheels aligned, to help avoid undue wear. Your tires should also be regularly rotated to ensure they are wearing unevenly.

What Should My Air Pressure Be?

Tire pressure recommendations can vary. Generally, tires should have between 32 and 35 psi. We recommend that you check your vehicle’s owner’s manual to determine the ideal psi for your car.

How Much Tread Do I Need?

We recommend your tires have a minimum of 4/32 of an inch of tread. Your tire’s tread is the outer rubber part that comes into contact with the read. The grooves in your tread allow it to flex, which helps your tires grip the road and keep you in control.
