Both the 2023 Honda HR-V and 2023 Honda CR-V are capable compact SUVs. While they share a lot of similarities, we’re highlighting their differences at Heritage Honda Bel Air to help you choose a favorite.

Flexible Five-Passenger Space

Both of these SUVs provide comfortable seating for five, but you’ll notice a difference in their passenger space. Even though they’re both classified as compact, the Honda HR-V is the smallest crossover in the Honda lineup. You’ll find extra passenger space in the 2023 Honda CR-V, including over three extra inches of rear legroom.

Ample Storage Room

You’ll really notice the difference between the two when comparing the cargo areas. The Honda HR-V can carry up to 24.4 cubic feet of cargo, while you can haul up to 39.3 cubic feet of cargo in the Honda CR-V.

Both SUVs feature a 60/40 split-folding second row to maximize the space. When you fold the second-row flat, the Honda HR-V boasts a generous 55.1 cubic feet of cargo space. You’ll get a whopping 76.5 cubic feet of cargo space in the Honda CR-V.

Fun to Drive

There’s no denying both SUVs are fun to drive. All three trim levels in the Honda HR-V are powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine which generates up to 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque.

The Honda CR-V is offered in five trim levels with two available powertrains. The turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four engine produces up to 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid models use a 2.0-liter direct-injection Atkinson engine and electric motor to deliver up to 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque.
